Where is my AskAI.free data stored?
Two different storage paths depending on who you are:
- Anonymous users: your one-question conversation stays in
localStorageon your device. We never write it to our database. Clear your browser and it's gone. - Signed-in users: chat history, saved prompts, and account data are stored in our managed MySQL database, encrypted at rest, behind authenticated API endpoints.
Backups are encrypted and rotated weekly. Server logs that include request paths are kept for 30 days for debugging and abuse-prevention, then auto-deleted.
When you ask a question, the prompt also transits the relevant AI provider's API (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google) so the model can generate an answer. That traffic is encrypted with TLS in both directions and is governed by the providers' API data terms, which exclude using your content as training data. The providers may retain API inputs briefly (typically up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring, then delete them.
What this means practically: if you want zero server-side traces, use the anonymous question and clear your browser afterwards. If you want your history available everywhere, sign in and accept that the conversation is stored, encrypted, on our side. You can delete individual chats or the whole account at any time, and signed-in users can export their history as JSON before doing so.
