How to Swap Faces in a Video

Three inputs, one click, a finished MP4 in your browser. No software to install, no account needed to try.

1

Pick Your Source Face

Upload a JPEG or PNG portrait - Any clear, front-facing photo works. The AI extracts the facial identity from this single still image and uses it to replace every face in your video, frame by frame.

2

Upload the Target Video

Drop in an MP4, MOV or AVI up to 50 MB and 60 seconds long. The AI decodes every frame, detects faces automatically, and maps the swap with consistent identity across the full clip - No manual keyframing.

3

Preview and Download MP4

Your swapped video streams directly in the browser the moment processing finishes. Hit Download to save a standard MP4 file ready for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, or any editing timeline. Need a looping animation instead? Try GIF Face Swap. Swapping a still photo? Use Photo Face Swap.

What Makes This Video Face Swap Different

Most online face swap tools handle still images. This one runs the same neural identity model on every individual frame of your clip, producing a result that holds up in motion - Not just in a screenshot.

Per-Frame Identity Mapping

Each video frame is decoded, face-detected, and swapped independently. The model re-estimates face landmarks on every frame so the swap tracks motion, head turns, and expressions naturally.

Crowd and Group Scene Support

Toggle Swap All Faces to replace every person visible in every frame simultaneously. Ideal for group shots, party clips, or any scene with multiple subjects on screen at once.

Seamless Colour Adaptation

Skin tone, lighting direction, and smooth tonal changes are blended at the boundary of the swapped region so the inserted face matches the original video's colour grade and ambient light.

Blend Strength Slider

At 1.0 the swap is full and clean. At 0.5 it ghosts the original face underneath at 50% weight. The slider lets you dial in any ratio - Useful for subtle compositing effects or intentional double-exposure looks.

No Stored Footage

Uploaded video files are written to a temporary path, processed, and deleted immediately after your result is sent. Nothing is retained on the server, and nothing leaves the processing pipeline.

MP4, MOV and AVI Input

The processor accepts all three major container formats. Output is always delivered as a standard H.264 MP4, compatible with every major platform, device, and video editor without re-encoding.

Video Face Swap for Creators, Marketers and Storytellers

Whether you are building a YouTube channel, shooting a short film, or just want to drop a friend's face into a viral moment - Video face swap unlocks edits that would otherwise require a professional VFX studio and hours of rotoscoping.

Short-Form Video Content

TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts reward novelty. A face swap clip that puts your audience into a scene, movie moment or trending format stops the scroll and drives shares without any production budget.

Personalised Video Gifts

Putting someone's face into their favourite movie clip or a funny moment from the year is genuinely memorable. It takes under two minutes and produces a gift nobody else will give them.

Film and Casting Pre-Vis

Indie filmmakers and students use video face swap to prototype actor choices before production. Swap a face into a reference clip to show a director or client how a role could look without scheduling a screen test.

Comedy and Parody Channels

Comedic face swaps landed on YouTube long before the AI era - But doing them frame-accurately by hand required After Effects expertise. Now the same quality result takes a single upload and a click.

Marketing and Ad Localisation

Swap the talent face in a product ad to test different presenter options or localise a campaign without reshooting. Particularly useful for A/B testing video thumbnails and spokesperson variations.

Game and Fan Edits

Fan edits, machinima, game capture and trailer remixes all benefit from the ability to put a specific face onto in-game characters or cutscene footage without access to the source assets or engine.

How to Get a Clean, Stable Video Face Swap

The swap quality depends more on your input choices than on the model. These are the adjustments that make the most measurable difference.

  • 1
Shoot your source portrait close-up and square-on. The model measures 128 facial landmarks from your photo. A face that fills at least 30% of the frame gives it more data per landmark, which directly tightens the swap boundary on every video frame.
  • 2
Match the lighting angle between source and video. If the video was lit from the left and your source photo was lit from above, the blend will look flat at the jaw and temple. Where possible, choose a source photo taken in conditions similar to the target video.
  • 3
Trim to the active scene before uploading. Black leader, title cards and fade-in frames are all processed at full cost. Removing them reduces your frame count by 10–20% on a typical clip and shaves meaningful time off processing.
  • 4
Use 1080p or lower. Avoid 4K. Higher resolution does not improve swap accuracy - Face detection normalises to 128×128 pixels internally regardless of source resolution. 4K files are significantly heavier to decode and encode for no gain in swap quality.
  • 5
Set Blend Strength to 0.85 if you see hard edges. A full 1.0 swap is cleanest on still faces, but motion blur and compression artifacts in the video sometimes make edge blending more visible. Dropping to 0.85 softens the join without noticeably reducing the swap effect.
  • 6
Encode your output as MP4 H.264 before re-uploading anywhere. The downloaded file is already in H.264. Avoid converting it to AVI or MOV before posting - Extra codec conversions introduce re-compression artifacts that are most visible around the face region.

Limitations of This Tool

This tool does what it says - but there are real constraints you should know about before uploading a long video or expecting broadcast-quality output.

No Audio in Output

The output MP4 contains video only. Audio from your original clip is not carried over. If you need the original soundtrack, mux it back in using CapCut, iMovie, or DaVinci Resolve after downloading.

Processing Takes Time

Each frame is processed individually. A 60-second video at 24fps is 1440 frames - expect 5 to 15 minutes of processing depending on resolution and settings. The page must stay open during processing.

Faces Must Be Clearly Visible

Profile angles, extreme head tilt, heavy occlusion (masks, hands over face, motion blur) will cause those frames to pass through unmodified with the original face intact. The model needs a mostly frontal view to detect landmarks reliably.

1440 Frame Maximum

The tool processes up to 1440 frames per job, roughly 60 seconds at 24fps. Longer videos will be cut at the frame limit. To process a longer clip, trim it to the relevant section before uploading.

Quality Depends on Your Source Photo

A blurry, low-resolution, or strongly side-lit source photo will produce a blurry, poorly lit swap on every frame. The model can only work with the facial detail it can extract from your image. A clear, well-lit, front-facing portrait is not optional - it is the single biggest quality lever you have.

One Source Face Per Job

You can only provide one source face photo per submission. All detected faces in the video will be swapped to that same identity. There is no per-person or per-region targeting - if you need different faces swapped to different identities, that requires separate runs.

Video Face Swap FAQ

Specific answers to the questions people ask most before uploading their first video.

Why does processing take longer than a still image swap?
A still image swap runs the model once. A 10-second video at 24fps runs it 240 times - Once per frame. Each frame goes through face detection, landmark estimation, warp, blend and seamless clone independently. A 10-second clip typically completes in 45–90 seconds depending on resolution and whether face enhancement is enabled.
The output video has no audio - Is that expected?
Yes. The face swap pipeline decodes video frames only, not audio tracks. The output MP4 contains the processed video stream with no audio. If your clip had audio you want to keep, use any free video editor (CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, iMovie) to mux the original audio back in - It is a one-step drag and drop in all of them.
What happens when a face is not detected in a frame?
Frames where no face is found are passed through unmodified. If the subject looks away, is partially off-screen, or is occluded by another object, those frames will retain the original face. This is intentional - Undetected frames are preserved at full quality rather than getting a bad guess applied to them.
Can I use a video portrait as my source face?
No - The source must be a still image (JPEG or PNG). Only the target file should be a video. The identity model extracts a single face embedding from your source photo and applies it consistently to every frame of the video. Using a single reference photo produces more stable, consistent results than trying to average from multiple frames.
Are my videos stored or shared after processing?
No. The uploaded video is written to a temporary server path for processing and moved to a short-lived served file so your browser can stream it. Both are deleted automatically - The input within seconds of processing, the output within an hour. Nothing is retained, reviewed, or used in any way after delivery.
