Anime, Cartoon or Comic: What Each One Does to a Face
They are not three filters of the same drawing. Each style changes different things: the line weight, the eyes, the colour, and how much of the original lighting survives.
Anime
The most transformative of the three. Eyes grow larger and catch a highlight, the line work turns clean and deliberate, and colour arrives in soft cel-shaded bands rather than photographic gradients.

Cartoon
The friendliest result and the safest bet for a group photo. Shapes round off, colours brighten, proportions get a gentle nudge, and the shading stays smooth and even, like a still from an animated feature.

Comic
The boldest and the most graphic. Heavy black ink defines every edge, halftone dots stand in for soft shading, and the contrast is pushed hard, so dramatic light in the original photo becomes an asset.

How to Get a Drawing That Still Looks Like You
The AI can only draw what it can see. Almost every disappointing result traces back to the photo rather than the style.
- Fill more of the frame with the face. A head and shoulders photo converts far better than a full-length shot taken from across a room. If the face is small, crop in before uploading.
- Use soft, even light. Daylight from a window is ideal. Hard overhead light carves shadows that the AI reads as facial features and draws in.
- Take the sunglasses off. Eyes carry most of the likeness, and every style redraws them. Hats and hoods are fine; anything covering the eyes is not.
- Skip the beauty filter. Filters have already smoothed away the detail the AI needs, and stacking a drawing on top of a filter tends to produce a generic face rather than yours.
- Rescue small or grainy pictures first. An old photo from a phone camera gains a lot from a pass through the AI image upscaler before it gets converted.
- Run all three styles before deciding. Photos are unpredictable: a picture that makes a flat anime frame often makes a superb comic panel. Three conversions cost you three clicks.
An All-Ages Tool, On Purpose
Every photo is checked for adult content before it goes anywhere. Nudity and sexual imagery are refused at the upload step, the picture is never sent for conversion, and nothing is charged for a refused upload. This is deliberate: the point of the tool is family photos, pets, profile pictures and gifts, and it stays that way.
Use pictures you have the right to use. Converting your own photo, or a friend's with their blessing, is exactly what this is for. Uploading a stranger, a celebrity or anyone who has not agreed is not, and neither is using an illustration to imply somebody said or did something they did not.

Photo to Anime Questions, Answered
Will the drawing still look like me?
That is what the instructions ask for: same face, same pose, same hair and clothes, drawn in a new style. A sharp, well-lit, front-facing photo comes back clearly recognisable. Sunglasses, heavy shadow, motion blur or a face that fills only a small part of the frame all make the likeness drift.
What is the difference between the three styles?
Anime gives clean line art, large expressive eyes and soft cel shading. Cartoon rounds everything off with bright saturated colour and friendly proportions, the look of a western animated film. Comic inks the picture with heavy black outlines, halftone dots and hard contrast, like a page from a comic book. The same photo through all three looks like three different pieces of art.
Is it free?
You need a free account, which needs no card, and free conversions carry a small watermark. Pro and Max results come back clean and full resolution and are saved to My Files. Each conversion costs 133,000 tokens from a Pro monthly allowance of 25 million, which works out at roughly 187 illustrations a month.
Can I use photos of other people?
Only with their permission. Converting a friend's photo for a gift or a group chat is fine when they are happy with it. Do not upload pictures of people who have not agreed, and do not use the result to suggest someone said or did something they did not.
Does it work on pets, groups and places?
Yes. Dogs, cats, couples, family groups, cars and landscapes all convert, and the comic style in particular suits scenery. Group photos work best when faces are reasonably large in the frame; in a wide crowd shot the smaller faces lose detail.
What happens to the photo I upload?
It is screened for adult content, sent for conversion and then deleted. The illustration is saved to My Files so you can download it, for 24 hours on a free account and for as long as you subscribe on Pro and Max. Nothing you upload is sold, shared or used to train AI models.
Why was my photo rejected?
This is an all-ages tool, so every upload passes an automatic adult-content check before anything else happens. Nudity and sexual content are refused, and you are not charged for a refused upload. The occasional false positive happens with swimwear or close-up skin; a different photo usually goes straight through.
How is this different from Image Restyle?
